My name is David Reifer and it’s been my pleasure to serve as President of YBNR for the better part of the last 20 years. It’s been a terrific experience! It is however very important to have leadership closely involved in league operations and issues. That typically means having children playing in YBNR and stepping up through our divisions. Although my boys were toddlers when I started volunteering with YBNR, my children have not only graduated from YBNR at this point, but as of this summer, both of my boys will have graduated from college! It’s definitely time to transition to new leadership that’s more deeply involved with the more day-to-day aspects of our league.
For these and other reasons, I recently decided to spearhead a search for new executive leadership for YBNR. Presidential leadership, but also new “blood” on our Board of Directors as well. Recruitment is tricky however. The job isn’t easy. Frankly it’s tough and takes a high level of commitment and a tremendous amount of time and effort. It’s mostly anonymous and often thankless. It also requires people that are experienced in league operations. I’m happy to say I’ve found a terrific candidate to transition league leadership. Jason Ser will be taking on the responsibility of YBNR President this Spring Season. (More on this in a moment.)
In the last 20 years, I’ve worked with a tremendous number of men and women that have dedicated their time and effort to YBNR to make our baseball/softball league something of which we can be proud. There have been a lot of challenges along the way. I’m happy too to say that I’ve developed many close friendships working with people, jointly dedicated to putting the best program on the field that we could. Everyone that has served on the Board deserves our thanks for their time and effort.
Now, Jason will be picking up the baton and carrying it forward. He won’t do it alone. There will be several new Board Members to support Jason and the team. In addition, I and some others will be staying on as Board Members and continuing to contribute in a myriad of ways. This will assure a smooth transition.
Please visit the About Us section on our website. There will be some new names on our Board. This is the next generation of leaders who will bring YBNR to the next level. I hope you’ll consider joining them. Feel free to inquire with any of them how you can help! I’ll be sticking around and continuing to volunteer, but relinquishing my role as President. I’m looking forward to playing a more supportive role and watching YBNR continue to flourish. Please welcome Jason Ser in his new role and feel free to view the new slate of leaders on our website by clicking here. Thanks everyone!
