Dear YBNR Families-
I hope you and your loved ones are all safe and healthy. We continue to navigate unfamiliar territory with the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay-at-home orders remain in place in New York through at least mid-May. Regrettably, we’ve made the decision to cancel the Spring season. Please keep reading, though. We are offering players the chance to play recreational baseball and softball this Summer for the first time ever!
It is everybody’s hope that circumstances will allow for Governor Cuomo to lift the stay-at-home order. Admittedly, none of us can predict what will happen. In the event that our state and New Rochelle community are reopened in the months ahead, and if state/community officials and health professionals determine that it is safe for activities like baseball and softball to resume, a Summer YBNR recreational season will happen for players who want the chance to play baseball and softball. Of course, all depends on what happens in the weeks and months ahead and we acknowledge a Summer season is not guaranteed. To allow for adequate planning and coordination, though, we have begun the process of setting up a possible Summer season now rather than waiting.
For families that registered a child for play in the Spring 2020 rec season, 4 different options are available. Consider the options below and then email your YBNR Commissioner who coordinates your child’s division. You can find those emails here. We will then adjust registrations accordingly. Should we not hear back by May 20, 2020, we will assume Option 1.
If you choose OPTION 1: Your child’s Spring registration will be transferred to the Summer season
We tentatively plan to officially start the Summer season, assuming our community is reopened and activities can safely be resumed, Father’s Day weekend June 21. If circumstances allow, we will try to start scrimmages in the weeks leading up to Father’s Day. If a Summer season is not possible, we will transfer registrations to the Fall season.
If you choose OPTION 2: Your child’s Spring registration will be transferred to the Fall season
Assuming our community is reopened and activities can safely be resumed, we plan to offer our familiar Fall season beginning in late August or early September.
If you choose OPTION 3: Your child’s Spring registration fee will be credited to your YBNR account for future registrations
If you choose OPTION 4: Your child’s Spring registration fee will be refunded less a small processing fee
YBNR is a Non-Profit and we already have many players registered for the Spring season. The processing fee is small for each individual, but costly to the league when multiplied many times over. Many of you already have graciously agreed to donate the processing fee and we appreciate your unwavering support! If you are unwilling or unable to donate the $9 to cover processing costs incurred with credit card transactions, feel free to email me and we will accommodate to meet your individual needs.
To all of our YBNR players, parents, and volunteers, stay healthy and safe.
